Lots of us feed garden birds believing that we are helping them in their quest for survival. But how many of us stop to consider that done incorrectly, feeding could actually do more harm than good?
If we do not pay proper attention to hygiene at our bird feeders and feeding stations, we could, unwittingly, be promoting diseases like salmonellosis, colibacillosis and those that lead to growths on the legs and feet. Fortunately avoiding such problems is mostly a matter of common sense and building hygiene into our feeding routines.
